Robert Bates, BDS (B’ham) DPDS (Brist) MCGDent, MFDSRCS (Eng)
Robert qualified at Birmingham, worked in general dental practice, and then moved to Warwick in 1992 working with his wife Sharon, a Hygienist. He became Clinical Assistant to the Maxillofacial Unit at George Eliot Hospital, working with Mr. Fagan and is now semi-retired. Robert has been married for forty years and has two children; both dentists. Richard specialising in implants and Jenny a GDP in Warwick, he has seven grandchildren. He has many interests outside of his working life which include; wildlife, walking, clay pigeon shooting and lots of things…..
Aims
- To demonstrate and discuss the clinical cases that have presented in general dental practice; the key signs and symptoms.
- To be aware of the different presentations of such lesions and the need to be vigilant and to maintain a high index of suspicion.
Objectives
- A better understanding of the conditions that Hygienists are uniquely placed to recognise early and flag up at the earliest possible stage.
- A clear understanding of the less obvious lesions that may present, especially skin cancer.
