Afternoon Session with Nichola Jayne Tong
How to use yoga to reduce chronic musculoskeletal pain & reduce physical & mental stress in dentistry. The afternoon will include, short lectures, practical beginner-level yoga, and mostly yin yoga.
***Delegates are encouraged to wear lounge or sports leggings, maybe a pillow/cushion/blanket, yoga mat or towel/blanket to lay on.**
Caroline is a Dental Hygiene/ Therapist working in the North East of England who is passionate about integrating lifestyle medicine into the systems and protocols we have in periodontal therapy. The journey has been driven by curiosity, a passion to help people and she is excited to share this exciting field of science with you all. Blending concepts from Nutritional Therapy, Myofunctional Therapy and Positive Psychology for better overall outcomes.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science with Honours (Health Science). Certified multi-style yoga teacher: (yin, hatha, vinyasa, mandala vinyasa, Kaula tantra yoga, shamanic yoga)
Nichola qualified as a dental hygienist in 1991 with the Royal Army Dental Corps whilst serving 9 years with the Royal Navy. Since then she has worked with several specialist periodontists to learn skills in periodontal disease management; and also how to care for nervous/anxious patients. Nichola earned her BSc (Hons) degree in Health Sciences in 2015 which has given her a greater understanding of healthcare law, leadership, change management, governance, and evidence-based healthcare. As well as being a registered dental professional Nichola is a registered multi-style yoga teacher and a certified SUP yoga instructor.
