  • To provide clinicians with the knowledge and practical skills required to optimise long-term successful implant outcomes.
Objectives
  • Discuss the anatomical differences between implants and natural teeth and be able to classify peri-implant health and disease.
  • Identify common risk factors for peri-implant disease.
  • Outline the key principles of peri-implant disease management to support the development of a structured practice protocol for prevention, early detection, and intervention.
  • Demonstrate correct peri-implant probing techniques to help form an assessment and use various modes of instrumentation around dental implants.

Jenny Walker

Jenny Walker RDH is a highly experienced dental professionals with a special interest in implant maintenance and disease prevention. Based in an implant referral centre, Jenny works daily with complex peri-implant cases, bringing real-world expertise to their teaching. Together with Kathryn Mayo, they have devised and delivered hands-on courses across the UK and Ireland, and presented webinars for the British Society of Periodontology (BSP), Ikigai, and other leading educational platforms. Both Jenny & Kathryn have authored multiple articles on implant care and are clinical educators for the Ikigai Oral Hygiene Community, where they share evidence-based, practical protocols with dental teams. Their engaging teaching style blends science, clinical skill, and a passion for raising standards in implant maintenance

Kathryn Mayo

Kathryn Mayo RDH is a highly experienced dental professionals with a special interest in implant maintenance and disease prevention. Based in an implant referral centre, Kathryn works daily with complex peri-implant cases, bringing real-world expertise to their teaching.
